About the Char Dham Yatra

Uttarakhand, fondly known as Dev Bhoomi — the Land of Gods — is home to countless revered temples and welcomes devotees throughout the year. In Hindi, Char means four and Dham refers to sacred pilgrimage sites. Together they form the spiritual journey known as the Char Dham Yatra, encompassing four major Hindu shrines: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.

It is believed that undertaking this yatra invites divine blessings and offers the seeker an opportunity for salvation. Along the way, travellers are treated to lush valleys, cascading waterfalls, majestic mountain ranges, and centuries-old temples. April to November is the ideal time to embark on this spiritually enriching tour.

With our Char Dham 2026 pilgrimage packages, every detail is thoughtfully arranged for your comfort. From a carefully crafted itinerary to dedicated guidance throughout, we ensure a seamless spiritual experience — including comfortable accommodation, wholesome meals, and reliable transportation.

2
🏔️

Yamunotri

Note: Gram Panchayat toll tax ₹600/person payable directly. Timings are provisional and confirmed one day prior based on weather and weight adjustment.

3
🌊

Gangotri

Depart Kharsali Helipad. Arrive Harsil Helipad — nestled in a breathtaking valley often called Mini Switzerland. Gangotri Temple is approximately 22 km from Harsil (50-min drive). Proceed directly to temple upon landing; VIP darshan assisted by ground staff. Return to resort for lunch and relaxation. Evening: campfire, or a leisurely walk to the nearby village to browse handcrafted woollens made by local tribal women.

4

Depart Harsil Helipad. Arrive Guptkashi / Phata. Board helicopter shuttle to Kedarnath Dham — helipad is ~500 m from the temple. VIP darshan arranged by ground staff (approx. 2 hrs). Shuttle flight is ~10 min each way. Return to Guptkashi/Phata by helicopter, then road transfer to hotel. Overnight at Guptkashi or Kedarnath depending on itinerary and weather.

Note: Overnight stay at Kedarnath is on triple/quad sharing and payable directly. Accommodation quality is modest — guests are encouraged to set realistic expectations given the remote location.

Who This Yatra Is Best For

The Char Dham Helicopter Yatra is designed for devotees and spiritual travellers who want to complete this sacred circuit with structured logistics, minimal physical strain, and reliable ground support. The helicopter option is ideal for senior travellers, families, or anyone for whom the arduous trekking routes are not physically suitable — though a reasonable baseline of fitness and health is still required given the high-altitude conditions at all four sites.

This is not a leisure holiday. The yatra is paced around temple schedules, weather windows, and helicopter operations. Participants should be prepared for early mornings, cold nights (especially at Kedarnath and Badrinath), potential delays from weather, and modest accommodation at certain locations. What the tour offers is spiritual depth, scenic grandeur, and the assurance of a guide and ground team at every stage.

Planning Notes

🧳

Baggage

Strictly 5 kg per person in the provided duffle bag. Large suitcases are not permitted inside the helicopter. Excess group luggage may be transported by road at a shared cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

🗓️ When is the best time for the Char Dham Yatra?

April to November is the yatra season. May–June and September–October are generally the most practical windows before and after monsoon. Temple opening and closing dates for each Dham vary each year — we confirm the exact schedule at the time of booking.

🚁 How does the helicopter circuit work?

The tour starts and ends at Sahastradhara Helipad, Dehradun. Day 1 you arrive and attend the briefing. Day 2 you fly to Yamunotri (Kharsali Helipad), continuing onward each day to Gangotri (Harsil), then Kedarnath (via Guptkashi/Phata shuttle), then Badrinath, and on Day 6 you fly back to Dehradun. Each leg takes 15–45 minutes by air depending on the route.

⚖️ What is the weight policy for the helicopter?

Passengers up to 75 kg are included in the package price. Weight above 75 kg is charged at ₹2,500 per additional kilogram. The aircraft total capacity limit is 450 kg per flight. Body weight is recorded at the Day 1 briefing, and weighing is mandatory before each boarding. Passengers who exceed the declared weight or cause the aircraft to exceed its limit may be denied boarding without refund.

🛂 Do I need any permits or documents?

Indian nationals must carry their Aadhaar card throughout the yatra. Foreign nationals must carry a valid passport. No visa is required for the pilgrimage, but registration requirements for specific dhams or trekking routes may apply — our team advises on these specifics at booking. It is also advisable to carry a doctor's fitness certificate for high-altitude travel.

☁️ What happens if flights are cancelled due to weather?

Every effort is made to complete the pending darshan on the following day if weather disrupts a scheduled flight. If a complete Dham is missed and cannot be covered at all, a refund of approximately ₹20,000 per seat is issued for that leg (flying-time cost only). Additional accommodation costs during weather delays are borne by the guest. We strongly recommend planning a buffer day in Dehradun beyond the 5N/6D package duration.

💵 What currency is used and should I carry cash?

All costs are in Indian Rupees. Cash is important on this yatra — toll taxes, pony/porter services, puja contributions, and village shopping are primarily cash transactions. Network coverage at several dhams is limited, which can make digital payments unreliable. Carrying adequate cash from Dehradun each day is strongly advised.

🩺 Are there any health or fitness requirements?

A fitness certificate from a doctor is recommended, particularly for senior travellers or those with cardiac, respiratory, or mobility conditions. The dhams are at high altitude and temperatures can drop significantly at night at Kedarnath and Badrinath. Personal medication, layered warm clothing, and a small oxygen bottle (available at local medical shops) are advised. The company reserves the right to refuse boarding to any passenger deemed unfit for the high-altitude journey.
